NEVADA, Mo. — Jasper County Judge Gayle Crane issues her ruling in a precedent setting lawsuit that pits Republicans against Republicans.
The Vernon County Republican Committee sued the county clerk, Adrienne Lee, to prevent her from allowing certain candidates from appearing on the August ballot as Republicans.
Judge Crane ruled against the county clerk, saying the eight candidates listed in the lawsuit cannot be listed on the primary ballot as Republicans. In her ruling, Judge Crane said that the county clerk has a statutory duty to get a receipt from the Republican Committee before placing those candidates on the ballot.
